Antenatal care of pregnant women has been increased significantly in developing countries. Actually there is a chance to diagnose the mother early especially for infections and follow treatment accordingly if they come for antenatal care early in her pregnancy. There would be chance to prevent low birth weight and other conditions in the newborn.  Thus taking antenatal care maternal health and development go smoothly and baby’s chance of survival gets increased. There is an opportunity to provide the pregnant woman with a vaccination to prevent tetanus, an insecticide-treated bed-net to prevent malaria, screenings for anemia, enrolment in Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV services, and with counseling for a safe delivery – all factors that help ensure that the mother remains healthy through childbirth and gives her child the best start in life. It also helps the attendant who will be there at the time of birth to build up skill how to handle the situation. This attendant can be a doctor, nurse or midwife or other health care provider who should have good knowledge of birth complications so that he/she can detect and manage it. This is really very crucial time or you can say it’s the difference between life and death for both mother and baby. Proper antenatal care can reduce the rate of death at the time of giving birth. According to doctors pregnant woman needs at least four antenatal care visits.
